Your non-surgical alternative to hair transplants for Male Pattern Baldness

Since 2017 there has been a massive increase in Google search volumes for the term "hair transplant". With more and more men looking to surgery as a solution to balding, I want to share some more information so you feel informed and aware of a natural solution that can restore your hair without the trauma of surgery or the high costs.

So firstly, what is a hair transplant?

A hair transplant is a cosmetic procedure to move hair to an area that's thin or bald. Hair transplants can cost anywhere between £1,000 - £8,000 depending on the extent of your hair loss and the procedure you opt for. A hair transplant is suitable for people with permanent, hereditary baldness but not for people with conditions such as alopecia and auto-immune issues.

For a transplant to be successful, your hair growth pattern needs to be at a certain stage. This is determined by the “Norwood Hamilton Scale”. You can only have three transplants in your lifetime, so you need to make sure you time them well. Any decent surgeon will make you aware of this.

If you go for surgery too soon, you could end up undergoing three rounds of hair transplant surgeries and still face thinning or baldness later in life.

Getting to the root of it

As with anything, prevention is always better than cure and the best way to promote hair growth is with good scalp health. The earlier you start looking after your scalp, the less likely it is that you’ll reach the stage of wanting a hair transplant.

Hair transplants can achieve amazing results if they are done at the right time. If you have an underlying scalp issue, a hair transplant will not solve this and it will lead to poor results further down the line. You would be fighting and paying for a losing hair loss battle!

As a trichologist, I am able to expertly evaluate your scalp using my trichoscope to see where you are thinning. I can assess the pattern of baldness you are experiencing and determine whether or not hair follicles are still alive or not. I can detect and diagnose any hidden scalp conditions that you may not have realised you’d been living with and will have been causing your hair loss.

Knowledge is power and once we know what we’re dealing with, I can treat you with a personalised hair care ritual.

Your non-surgical solution

After your initial consultation, where I think it’s appropriate, I will recommend a course of HydraFacial Keravive Scalp Treatments. These non-invasive treatments will aim to revive your hair naturally without the trauma of surgery or crazy price commitments.

Your scalp treatment prevents thinning by stimulating hair growth at the root, as long as there is still a living follicle. By cleansing your scalp of dead skin, we are creating the best possible environment for hair to grow.

After your in-salon treatment, you will continue to treat your scalp at home every night for 90 days using the HydraFacial Scalp Peptide Spray. This follow-on process will maximise your results and promote the re-growth of healthy follicles.

To maintain the best results, it is recommended that you repeat this process 2-3 times a year. 12 weeks after your initial treatment, a pre-consultation can be carried out to determine your best next steps based on the results we’re seeing.

I hope you’ve found this useful. Often people jump to hair transplants as soon as they see the signs of balding. There is little awareness of alternative treatments or paths to hair loss prevention, so I’m always happy to share my expert advice on this - and please help spread the word by sharing this blog with anyone who you think might benefit from reading it. Surgery is never something to go into lightly, especially when there are less invasive (...and less expensive) solutions out there that could bring you better results more naturally.

It’s never too early to start your journey to better scalp health and hair loss prevention. Book an initial 15-minute consultation with me here.

Thanks for reading,

Tiff x
