What to know and where to start with MPHL ?
Ok so when talking MPHL- we mean male pattern hair loss.
This affects 75% of men by the time they are 35 years old.
The scale can vary, as a trichologist we use the Norwood Hamilton scale to diagnose the stage of MPHL the client is at. This then helps us determine what hair loss treatment services to recommend. If you have been following my posts for a while you will know how much I talk about a 360 approach to hair loss. Where wellness meets science. This is why i only offer hair loss treatments after I have had a 1-1 consultation with a client, this can be done in clinic with myself or at one of my scalp scope salons , that then forward the images to myself of your scalp analysis and then we have a online consultation to discuss your internal health, this is a good option if London isn’t viable for you to visit.
Once we have carried out your consultation a diagnosis will be given with recommended tailored treatment plans alongside any blood test analysis, nutrition recommendations, hormone treatments, (yes gents may need hormone suggestions too), lifestyle practices and more.
Treatments can be PRP- platelet rich plasma, Exosomes and Micro-Needling or a Keravive Scalp Facial depending or a combination of treatments depending on your diagnosis.
I am always completely transparent with my clients and will recommend the best steps I feel is best for your MPHL needs, alongside any advice or referrals you may need if I feel a hair transplant is suitable for you at your stage.
If you would like to discuss further please book a pre consultation call here or book a 1-1 here.
FAQ’S
Where does it come from ?
Male pattern hair loss (MPHL) is the most common hair loss condition in men, which can lead to male pattern baldness (MPB) also called androgenetic alopecia. It is a genetic condition which causes the hair to thin and can eventually lead to just a horseshoe-like shape of hair around the sides and back of the head.
Why does it happen ?
Male pattern hair loss and male pattern baldness are caused by a by-product of testosterone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This binds to hair follicles causing them to shrink, producing gradually thinner and thinner hair until baldness becomes apparent. The hair at the sides and the back remains because the follicles in these locations are not susceptible to DHT.
Can it be reversed ?
No, but it can be controlled and slowed down with the correct sustainable plan for you.
What treatments are there for it ?
PRP, Exosomes and microneedling, Keravive Scalp Facials, Hair Transplant surgery
How long are the treatments ?
Normally 30-60 minutes
Are they painful ?
PRP 7/10
Exosomes and microneedling - 3/10
Keravive 1/10
How long until I can expect to see results ?
There's usually a 4-6 month period before fresh hair emerges post hair transplants or treatments for hair loss. This occurs as the hair follicles transition from a dormant to an active state, and the newly grown hairs require adequate length to become noticeable. All of these processes require some time to unfold.
Does diet and lifestyle contribute towards and by making changes can it resolve it ?
YES!! Diet and lifestyle has a huge impact on our hair follicles, due to factors like, inflammation in the body, lack of nutrients delivered to the hair follicles, and our stress hormone cortisol affecting our hormone imbalance. By making changes you slow the process of MPHL significantly. Also benefit your hair treatments, whether be Exosomes or a hair transplant, that new hair still needs looking after to be healthy and maintained.
Estimated Costs ?
From £400 per treatment
