What Are The Signs Of Healthy Hair?

Hair and scalp health are sometimes difficult to see because the effects of any treatment are as gradual as hair growth and hair loss itself.

It can sometimes be very difficult to see the difference between the natural hair loss that is an inevitable part of the hair cycle and the signs of a potential scalp condition that could lead to premature permanent hair thinning and balding.

However, sometimes it can be easier to see what is working than what isn’t, and whilst healthy hair looks different in every person, there are some signs that your hair is doing well, and this

can often reflect your general health.

Your Hair Bounces

If you have ever seen an advert for shampoo that shows someone’s hair bouncing with every movement, this is done because it is an inherent sign of healthy hair.

Healthy hair is elastic and should therefore not always stay in one place, so if your hair retains that elasticity it is likely to be faring very well.

No Dandruff

Dandruff is a symptom of several scalp conditions, and whilst it is not harmful by itself, those flakes could be a sign that your scalp needs extra care and attention.

Typically, an anti-dandruff shampoo will suffice, but if you still notice significant amounts of dandruff even after using it for a long time, a trichologist might be needed to diagnose a potentially more serious skin condition.

Smooth Texture

An easy way to tell if your hair is doing well is just to run your fingers through it and feel the different locks and strands to the touch.

Hair should feel soft and smooth when running your fingers through it, so if a lot of hair comes out or the individual strands feel coarse, bumpy or brittle, it might be a sign that your hair is not doing too well.
